Poh's Kitchen (source - heraldsun.com.au)
Our Kitchen Garden is in the news again! On Thursday 11th February, ABC Television will film a segment with Masterchef Australia’s runner-up Poh Ling Yeow in our Margaret River Primary Kitchen Garden! Ian Parmentier (famous local chef and Climate Action Group member) has our Kitchen Garden close to his heart and will be bringing Poh and the ABC production team on site for filming. The series will follow Poh around Australia as she meets different chefs and cooks.
The program featuring our Kitchen Garden in the new national cooking series “Poh’s Kitchen” will go to air on the ABC on 5th May at 6:30pm.
“MasterChef Australia runner-up Poh Ling Yeow will front a new cooking show and write two cookbooks for the ABC. Production on Poh’s Kitchen in her hometown of Adelaide is due to begin in November. The year-long series will see the artist-cum-cook travelling across Australia, visiting leading chefs and adding to her ever-increasing collection of recipes.
“Entering into the world of food has been something I’ve had a secret obsession with for many years,” she said in a statement. “Now to share my love of cooking as part of the ABC team is quite beyond anything I dared dream of, so it goes without saying that I am absolutely brimming with excitement!”
The series, which will air in 2010, will have the same executive producer as The Cook And The Chef.” (source: ABC News on the web) http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009/09/09/2680612.htm

On Thursday 10th September our very own Kitchen Garden project was a popular winner at the Education Department’s Excellence Awards. Thank you to all those who have contributed to making it a very successful addition to our school, especially Mr. Mcleod and Suzie Ormonde!
Here are a few more pictures to show you how much it has grown in the last couple of months.
We look forward to reading your comments, just below this post.

This week students have enjoyed a delicious fruit kebab, delivered to their classrooms thanks to all those friends and parents who gave their time to chopping up a range of yummy fruits. Thank you to parents: Tracy, Alex and Jenny on Monday, and Steph, Carolyn and Alison on Wednesday.
Despite the torrential rain and howling gales, students were treated to herb pikelets cooked up by Sally Hayes and Suzie Ormonde on Thursday. The green bits were carefully tasted as students tried to name the herbs used. Thank you to our ‘brave’ volunteers and Mr. Mcleod for his extraordinary organisational skills.
Why don’t you tell Mr. Mcleod which activity you enjoyed most and why or you may like to suggest a new activity for Healthy Fruit ‘n Veg Week next year.
